Help & Support
Answers to common questions about TellyPop. If you can’t find what you need, email us at support@acefina.com (what to include).
TellyPop is a player and does not include channels. For problems with your channels, your subscription with your provider or your provider account, please contact your TV provider.
Getting started
How do I add my service?
- Open TellyPop.
- Tap Add your service.
- Enter the server address, username and password that your provider gave you.
Only add a service that you have got from a provider and are authorised to use. Your details are stored only on your device.
Where do I get channels?
From your own TV provider. TellyPop is a player only — it doesn’t sell or include channels, playlists or a TV service.
If you’d like to try the player first, use the built-in demo, which plays publicly available sample test video.
Can I try TellyPop with a demo service?
Yes. Tap Add your service and enter:
- Server address: https://tellypop.acefina.com/demo
- Username: demo
- Password: tellypop
The demo service contains only public test streams and Creative Commons films: Big Buck Bunny, Elephants Dream and Tears of Steel © Blender Foundation (CC BY), with test streams from Apple, Akamai and Mux. Video comes directly from those public hosts.
How do I set up a TV?
- Install TellyPop on your Android TV or Google TV and open it.
- Choose Set up a TV to pair it with your phone. The TV shows a QR code and an 8-digit code.
- In TellyPop on your phone, scan the QR code with the camera, or enter the 8-digit code.
Your phone encrypts your service details before sending them to the TV. A pairing session lasts no more than 5 minutes, so if it runs out, just start again.
Fixing problems
My service won’t sign in
- Check the server address carefully, including the port number if your provider gave you one — for example
:8080at the end, as inhttp://tv.example.com:8080. - Check your username and password with your provider. Look out for extra spaces and capital letters.
- Check that your subscription with your provider is still active.
If it still won’t sign in, your provider can confirm whether the details are correct.
A channel won’t play or keeps buffering
This is often caused by the provider’s stream or by your provider’s connection limit.
- Try another channel. If other channels play, the problem is probably with that channel’s stream.
- Make sure no other device — such as another TV or phone — is using your only connection.
- Split screen plays two streams at once, so it needs two available connections from your provider.
- If many channels won’t play, contact your provider.
Purchases
How do I restore my purchase?
Go to Account and help → Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account that you used to buy TellyPop.
A lifetime purchase stays with the store account you bought it on. It does not transfer between Apple and Google.
How do I cancel my subscription?
- iPhone or iPad (Apple): open Settings → your name → Subscriptions, then choose TellyPop.
- Android (Google Play): open Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, then choose TellyPop. In the Play Store, tap your profile picture to find Payments & subscriptions.
To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel at least 24 hours before your current period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies:
- Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Google Play: see Google Play’s refund help.
Your data
How do I delete my data?
- In TellyPop, use Sign out and forget service to delete your saved sign-in from your device.
- On Android, uninstalling TellyPop removes its data. On iPhone and iPad, iOS can keep saved sign-ins in the Keychain after the app is deleted, so use Sign out and forget service first.
- For questions about your purchase record, or to ask us to delete the anonymous purchase record kept by our subscription service, email support@acefina.com. Your purchase history with Apple or Google is held by them.
